The sub-floor must be level and constructed of suitable thickness and material (discuss with installer prior to installation).
Suitable Subfloors

Thickness of underlayment must be a minimum of 3/4" in two layers.

APA (American Plywood Association) approved plywood underlayment for use with
wood flooring

Concrete can be used if in good condition and structurally sound. Prior to
hardwood installation, all well-bonded paint, concrete sealers and other curing
agents must be thoroughly sanded. New concrete subfloors must cure at least 28 days
prior to installation.

Resilient flooring can be used only if in good condition, uncushioned and solidly
adhered to the subfloor. All finishes and waxes must be removed from the surface.
Pre-Installation Procedures

Remove all doors.

Remove wood or vinyl moldings.

Check for and repair any plumbing leaks.

Finish all painting.

Empty rooms which are being resurfaced.

Disconnect all electrical components which may be affected by the installation.
