Protecting the Floor

Place a doormat inside the front door to collect dirt. Place floor protectors under furniture legs to help maintain the long-lasting beauty of the laminate floor.

Regular Maintenance

The surface layer of a laminate floor is hard and compact, so dirt and dust have a hard time sticking. Therefore, vacuuming and an occasional wipe with a dry mop are usually all it takes to keep laminate floors clean. Do not wax or polish laminate flooring.

Basic Protection

The following are general care guidelines. Please refer to the manufacturer's care and warranty guide for more specific information on your product.

Laminate flooring is easy to care for. Most cleaning can be done with warm soapy water and a sponge or with a household liquid detergent. Abrasive cleaners should never be used.

Do not set hot pans on plastic laminates. This may either scorch the laminate or create a surface bubble. Scorches are permanent damage. A bubble can usually be repaired by a professional, qualified installer.

Stains. Plastic laminates are susceptible to stains from a wide variety of foods. Although the stain may persist for several days, repeated cleaning with an all-purpose cleaner will usually remove such stains.

Seam Shrinkage. Plastic laminates are not stable when exposed to direct sunlight. Exposure can cause sheet material to shrink and pull away at the seams. This problem can be repaired with a matching color seam-filler.

NOTE: Pulled seams will allow water to reach and deteriorate the contact adhesive. We recommend prompt attention to this problem.

Scratching. Laminates are plastic and therefore subject to scratches, cuts and pits from knives and other sharp objects. Use a cutting board when working with knives on a laminate surface.
